Management Committee

The Management Committee is headed by Sergio Custodio, ULI BC Chair, and consists largely of the Chairs of ULI BC’s various sub-committees, as well as members at large. The committee meets monthly and directs the day-to-day operations of ULI BC. Committee members are:

Sergio Custodio, ULI BC Chair
Partner, Fasken Martineau
Sergio Custodio is the Co-Leader of the National Real Estate Law Practice Group at Fasken Martineau and the leader for the Real Estate Law Practice Group in Fasken Martineau’s Vancouver office.

Sergio Custodio advises clients on a broad range of business matters, with a focus on real estate, infrastructure, and commercial transactions. Sergio is sought after for his ability to consistently close even the most complicated and fast paced transactions. He works seamlessly as part of the extended client team to negotiate and finish the deal. Persistent and highly focused, Sergio understands what businesses require in order to effectively negotiate and finalize transactions that further his clients’ business objectives.

Michael Burak is a Development Manager with Grosvenor Americas where he assists in overseeing the management of Grosvenor’s Vancouver development program from initial acquisition to project completion.

Suky Cheema, Treasurer
Partner, Expertise Summary, BDO
Suky is an accounting and audit partner in the Vancouver office of BDO Canada LLP.  She has over 15 years of experience focused on private companies, many in the real estate and construction industry.  She leads the BDO Vancouver Real Estate and Construction practice. Her real estate and construction clients include property managers, land developers, residential construction and commercial real estate landlords and developers involved in commercial, retail, office, industrial, and residential properties in Canada and the United States.

In addition to leading the audits she has also assisted her clients with tax structuring and reorganizations, prepared and audited financial projections, and provided a host of other consulting services focused on the real estate industry.

Suky is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.  She graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts.

She is also an active member of her community, acting as an advisory committee member of the Vancouver Cancer Society, as well as chair of the BC Children’s Hospital South Asian Division.

Tessa Forrest, TAPS Co-Chair
With a background in land use and urban design policy, sustainable community planning, and public engagement, Tessa brings a keen eye for good urban form and the complexities of city building to her role as a planner. As a LEED Accredited Professional for Neighborhood Development, she has worked on a variety of projects based in Canada, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Asia. Tessa’s portfolio includes a number of planning and urban design projects where her approach stresses the importance of public engagement to create implementable, innovative solutions focused on a holistic integration of systems to maximize the success of a project. Tessa has a Master In Environmental Studies – Planning Stream from York University and is a full member of the Canadian Institute of Planners.

Patti Glass, Communications Chair
Director of Marketing, Grosvenor Americas
As Director of Marketing for the property development and investment company Grosvenor Americas, Patti is responsible for developing marketing and communication strategies that support Grosvenor’s ‘Living cities’ philosophy. Prior to joining the Company in 2014, Patti spent ten years working in corporate branding and marketing in the real estate and engineering sectors throughout Canada. Patti has sat on the board of the Canadian Society for Marketing Professional Services and gives her time to the StarFish Greathearts Foundation. She earned an undergraduate degree in geography and economics at the University of Victoria and her executive MBA with a focus in Luxury Brand Management at the University of Toronto.

Katie Maslechko, YLG Co-Chair
Assistant Development Manager, Beedie Living

As Assistant Development Manager with Beedie Living, Katie focuses on guiding the firm’s mixed-use and residential developments from initial acquisition, through proforma development, design, rezoning and development approvals, marketing, sales, and construction. Her experience includes a diversity of complex development projects throughout the Lower Mainland, and builds upon prior real estate experience in both New York and Vancouver.

Katie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Policy, Planning & Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California.

Adam Mitchell, YLG Co-Chair

Adam Mitchell is a Manager – Acquisitions and Asset Management, for Bentall Kennedy’s Canadian Investment Management operations in Western Canada. He is directly responsible for identifying acquisition/disposition opportunities and carrying out the required due diligence. He is also responsible for overseeing the operations and performance of a diverse portfolio of office, retail, industrial, and development properties.  Adam joined Bentall Kennedy in 2011 after spending four years as an Analyst for a private development company with active projects across Canada. A graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Urban Land Economics, he has been a member of ULI since 2007.

Bryce Tupper, TAPS Co-Chair

Bryce oversees the planning and approvals for Cypress Village and the west areas of Rodgers Creek in the Upper Lands of West Vancouver for BPP.  Bryce holds a Bachelor and Masters of Engineering from McGill University and has 17 years of work experience.  Previous positions in the consulting engineering, planning and real estate development fields include work with Intrawest, Anthem Properties and NORR Architects Planners.  Bryce is a registered Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited and is currently pursing registration with the Planning Institute of BC.
