ULI BC: Bicycle Tour – False Creek Flats
Join us for a bicycle tour of the False Creek Flats, co-hosted by the Vancouver Economic Commission, our Presenting Sponsor!
The False Creek Flats industrial area, spanning from Main Street to Clarke Drive and Prior/Venables to Great Northern Way, is approximately 450 acres in size, housing approximately 16% of Vancouver’s industrial land base.
Home to over 600 businesses, including artists, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations, it is undergoing rapid shifts in land use. Although the area continues to play an integral warehousing and distribution role, the emergence of car dealerships on Terminal Ave, the development of a new university campus on Great Northern Way, and the promise of a major healthcare facility in the Northwest corner of the Flats are contributing to the erosion of this traditional industrial function of the Flats.
This tour will explore the Flats as it functions today as well as take an in-depth look at its possible futures, including the vision, institutional developments, and infrastructure changes that are driving the district’s local area planning process.
The tour will feature speakers from Providence healthcare, the City of Vancouver’s planning department, a cutting edge logistics business, the Great Northern Way Trust, and owners of several industrial collocation hubs that have taken root on Industrial Ave.
Post the tour, we will wrap up with a social at Craft!
