ULI BC Walking Tour: Cambie Corridor Phase III
SOLD OUT – Contact ULI BC to be added to waitlist!
In 2009, Vancouver launched a three-phase planning program to guide long-term growth in the Cambie Corridor and the influence of the Canada Line transit system in supporting how distinct neighbourhoods within the Cambie Corridor grow. The 19-km line connects residents to jobs, amenities, and services throughout the Corridor and city, linking the area to downtown Vancouver, Richmond, Vancouver International Airport, and to other east-west transit services.
The first two phases of the plan produced the Cambie Corridor Plan (2011), which established planning principles for the overall Corridor and direction for properties along major streets and near Canada Line Stations. The plan set a vision for key properties along major streets in the Corridor, and provided a broad strategy for public benefits and spaces, as well as neighbourhood energy opportunities.
Vancouver launched Phase 3 on April 15th, building on the approved Cambie Corridor Plan and looking at nearby neighbourhoods as far as Oak and Ontario Streets.
Phase 3 of the plan is examining housing options for a diverse, growing population, while guiding the integration of community amenities and public spaces.
Join us with Senior Planner Jim Bailey, who will outline highlights from the plan to date with a focus on the potential directions for Phase 3:
- The transitions between apartment areas on major streets and surrounding single-family neighbourhoods
- Options for ground-oriented housing (e.g. townhomes and row homes) in the surrounding areas off major streets
- Community amenities and public spaces
