Walking Tour: Lower Lonsdale – Next Generation
Join us July 13th!
Join us and Gary Penway, Director of Community Development, City of North Vancouver (CNV), for a tour focused on the ongoing transformation of the CNV’s Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood.
Lower Lonsdale is a part of the most sustainable neighbourhood on the North Shore. The tour will include: the Pier brownfield development with its Shipyards public precinct; District Heating System (LEC); North Shore Spirit Trail; Polygon Gallery (Patkau Architects -now nearing completion); historic Lower Lonsdale commercial district and new mixed use developments. Place-making, active waterfront uses, residential interfaces, and sustainability will be featured.
Gary Penway is the Director of the Community Development Department with the City of North Vancouver. His department oversees Planning, Building, Economic Development and Bylaw Enforcement. He has over 30 years of experience previously serving as City Planner, Waterfront Project Manager and Development Planner. Gary has been actively involved in helping shape Lower Lonsdale into a vibrant, diverse, inclusive and, increasingly sustainable neighbourhood. Gary has a degree in Urban & Regional Planning and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners.
Following the tour, we will gather at Tap & Barrel (Shipyards) for an informal social.

**We will meet south of the Lonsdale Quay Public Market (waterfront deck beside the fountain) before the tour (at 1:15pm).**
